Dr. Julie Liberman offers family dentistry services to protect both you and your children’s oral health. At her practice in Great Neck, NY, the doctor and her team provide oral hygiene education, fluoride treatments, and other types of preventive care so that patients can enjoy healthy smiles from childhood to adulthood. Whether you need help teaching good dental habits to your child or require periodontal care yourself, Dr. Liberman can help.
As a family dentist, Dr. Liberman is uniquely qualified to offer care throughout a patient’s lifetime. Because there are many dentists who prefer to treat children or adults exclusively, patients often have to switch dentists as they reach adulthood. However, Dr. Liberman provides continuous care which allows her to better monitor chronic conditions, such as gum disease, and conveniently meet your family's needs in one location.
Dr. Liberman and our entire team take several measures to ensure that your children are comfortable in the dentist’s chair from a young age. We encourage parents to bring their children along to their own appointments so that the office becomes familiar long before they need treatment. Once children start their own appointments, they can pick prizes at the end of each visit. By becoming friends with our youngest patients, we encourage them to look forward to their check-ups. We can provide fillings for kids, offer caries control and prevention, and place dental sealants to provide an extra defense against cavities.
We provide a full range of preventive services to protect your family's oral health, including:
For children in particular, identifying bad habits and preventing future problems is a significant part of our preventive dental care. By providing a full range of these services, our team can lay the building blocks for your family’s oral health.
Family dentistry is integral to ensure that good dental care starts early and lasts for a lifetime.
Although our team provides comprehensive dentistry services, sometimes patients require more specialized care, such as oral surgery or the placement of dental implants. Because we continuously evaluate your oral health during regular exams, we can identify when treatment from local surgeons or other specialists is necessary. Among the most commonly required specialized treatments are:
Many children develop problems with the alignment of their teeth and bite. Crooked teeth can be more than just a cosmetic concern: they can also negatively affect long-term health, as well. Overcrowded teeth or a misaligned bite can oftentimes make it much harder to care for your teeth. Plaque trapped between your teeth can lead to decay and periodontal disease. By realigning your smile, orthodontics can make it easier to properly brush and floss, and consequently, prevent oral health problems. If your child shows signs of misalignment, Dr. Liberman will usually refer you to an orthodontist to discuss the possibility of braces and other orthodontic options. Patients who qualify for Invisalign® can undergo treatment in our office.
The small piece of tissue connecting the tongue to the bottom of the mouth, or frenum, can sometimes become overdeveloped. While not necessarily a health hazard, an oversized frenum can prevent the tongue from moving freely and interfere with a child’s ability to speak. For some patients, it can also undermine their gum health, as well. For such cases, Dr. Liberman can refer you to a specialist for a frenectomy, during which they can remove some or all of the band of tissue.
