Ten Tips for Keeping Your Teeth Clean During the Holidays!

The holidays are a time to celebrate with family and friends, but they can also be a time when you're tempted to indulge in festive foods and drinks. While the season of giving is upon us, it's important to remember that your teeth need love too!

Keeping your teeth clean during the holidays can be a challenge. With lots of sweets, parties, and traveling, there's no shortage of opportunities for your pearly whites to fall victim to decay-causing bacteria. Wondering how to keep your teeth in tip-top shape while traveling and eating all the holiday sweets? We've got you covered. Here are our tips for keeping your teeth clean during the holidays:

  • Get yourself a travel-sized toothbrush and some travel-sized toothpaste. It's much easier to brush your teeth while you're traveling than it is when you're at home! Be sure to pack extra travel-sized toothbrushes so you have them when you return home—you'll want them after those long days of eating pie and drinking eggnog!
  • Remember to floss! Flossing on the go can be tough, but packing dental floss or dental tape with you doesn’t take up much space at all in your luggage.
  • Don't forget to brush your tongue! This is one of the most important things we do when caring for our teeth because plaque buildup on our tongues is one of the first signs that we need to see our dentist for a checkup.

  • There are many different types of travel toothbrushes out there, but we recommend getting one with a built-in timer (you can set it for two minutes) so that you're sure not to miss any spots while brushing!
  • Brush your teeth twice a day with fluoride toothpaste, even if you're only drinking water or milk. It is sometimes hard to do with the late nights around the holidays, but it is essential to maintain hygiene habits.
  • Rinse with mouthwash after drinking coffee or tea. This will help prevent stains on your teeth. You do not want tarnished smiles on the Christmas card!
  • Make sure you have extra travel toothbrushes and dental floss handy when traveling during the holidays so you can stay on top of those morning and night routines even when you're far away from home.
  • Avoid eating sugary candies and other sweet treats whenever possible because they can cause tooth decay over time if consumed too often!
  • Try not to drink too much soda or coffee while traveling. These drinks have a lot of acid in them which can cause tooth decay if consumed too often. If you're going on a long road trip with friends or family, try bringing along some water bottles instead of soda cans, so everyone stays hydrated without drinking soda all day long!
  • Make sure you visit your dentist before heading out on vacation so there aren't any issues with loose fillings or other concerns that could lead to problems while you’re gone.
  • Were there any that we missed? Let us know! Enjoy your holiday season!
